Thank you so much for your enthusiastic visit to this plant. It is a kind of BROMELIAD, but there are thousands of varieties.. This is where they keep their water!

Maybe you could buy one for your house!

I did find out that the plant is a Bromeliad, and this is a normal behaviour for them!
(But not being an expert on plants I know nothing more - sorry!)
