Approaching Keighley

Approaching Keighley
The locomotive is Stanier Class 5 #45212, arriving with the afternoon freight from Damems.

The house in the middle of the picture is quite old!
Other houses from the same era, built by the mill and factory owners for their employees, have been found in old pictures. All except Dundee street and this one, are gone.

Maria Lovasz, Sami Serola (inactive), Andy Rodker, Istvan Farkas and 11 other people have particularly liked this photo

Thank you so much Rosa,

I am sure it must have been fun watching the big expresses go past, steam or diesel..
It is nice when you can see the railway activity, maybe this close! www.ipernity.com/doc/2247998/47521246/in/album/930620

Best Wishes

A beautiful capture, Peter! I've loved old steam engines since early childhood (especially the whistle!).

Hi Val,

Thank you so much for visiting! I am so pleased that you have found happy memories here!
I know there are a few preserved railways on the East coast of America, as I have been to them a long time ago (pre-digital age), but maybe I can post something from the Baltimore museum..
I must say that it is fun to sound the whistle.. Both driver and fireman can do it..

Best Wishes
Peter

A fabulous shot, Peter. That goes for your previous postings these past few weeks too, where I would have liked to have commented but haven't had the time! A YS or a simple 'excellent' (or similar) have had to do. Sorry.
Best wishes,
Andy

While dialogue is nice, I know we all have other things to do in our lives! Not a problem!!
