In reality, it didn't seem that steep, the emergency stairs are quite gentle.. But it was the pattern of the converge - diverge which drew my attention, just like yours!

The railway serves to take passengers from the boat (across the lake) to the very posh hotel situated in the hills. As I remember, it only runs to meet the boats arrival...
