Peter_Private_Box club has replied to Jaap van 't Veen clubThank you for your very quick visit.
I agree, there could be a lot more water there. I have no explanation for the low water, other than maybe it is to facilitate some aspect of the construction of the new bypass bridge. (Or simply that it is the middle of summer...!)
Best Wishes
Peter
Best wishes ... Steve
Peter_Private_Box club has replied to SteThere was definitely a lot of construction activity, but the queue here is due to extra security and police checking of vehicles crossing the dam. All those nice people have Mr Bin-Liner and his mates (may they all burn in hell) to thank for that one!
Best wishes
Peter
It is a really very interesting picture !! Maybe it is more different now.. Very well captured!

Peter_Private_Box club has replied to gezginruh clubThank you so much for your well observed visit here. Of course this picture is 10 years old now.
The bridge they were building is open. These roads are simply service roads now..
Unfortunately I have not been back there since!
Love Peter

I was there in July 2010, just driving to Nevada..well, this imposing and gigantic Dam impressed me quite a lot and even I tried to take some pictures.. total flop! :-)
So: Thanks for this so perfectly neatly framed in its impressive wideness which reminds me of that experience.
Anyway..there was not so much water and the there was a lot of construction activity even the !
Best wishes .
Bea
Peter_Private_Box club has replied to Beatrice Degan(MARS)Thank you for dropping by. You were there just one year after I was! Perhaps the new bridge was not open then? They still had a lot of work to do. Did you get to go into the turbine halls?
I suppose you must have visited the Grand Canyon too.. Be nice to see your pictures!
Best Wishes

I'm pleased that you have enjoyed it, but you are right, it is low, but I don't know why!
Best Wishes, and a Good Weekend,
Peter
Berny club has replied to Peter_Private_Box clubWhat a great overview! Much needed in a very dry State no doubt!
Best regards,
Rosa.
Peter_Private_Box club has replied to Rosalyn HilborneThank you so much for your well considered visit to the Hoover Dam.
Inside the dam is a hall full of turbines to generate electricity, so they must be kept running. I still think the low water level was to do with the construction going on there..
Best wishes
Peter
Peter_Private_Box club has replied to Gudrun clubThank you so much for your visit.
You are right, it is enormous! Apparently it took years for the concrete to harden, as there was so much of it.
The turbine hall is worth a visit too!
Have you been there?
Best Wishes
Peter
