Die Hammermühle im Tal der Schandtauber - The hammer mill in the valley of the Schandtauber

Bei einer Wanderung durch das Tal des Bächleins Schandtauber in der Nähe von Rothenburg ob der Tauber entdeckte ich dieses seltsame Gebäude mit dem auffälligen Kamin. Es ist die ehemalige Hammerschmiede, die im 17. Jahrhundert erbaut wurde und bis Anfang des 20. Jahrhunderts in Betrieb war. Sie diente der Herstellung von Schaufeln, Sensenblättern, Pflugscharen u.s.w. mittels Wasserkraft. Seit 1920 dient sie nur noch zu Wohnzwecken. Das PiP1+2 zeigt ein Schild, das dort aufgestellt war, und das die Geschichte dieser Hammermühle erläutert.
Im PiP3 wird der Bach Schandtauber in der Nähe der Mühle gezeigt.

On a hike through the valley of the Schandtauber brook near Rothenburg ob der Tauber, I discovered this strange building with the striking chimney. It is the former hammer mill that was built in the 17th century and was in use until the early 20th century. It was used to manufacture shovels, scythe blades, ploughshares, etc. by hydropower. Since 1920 it has only been used for residential purposes. The PiP1+2 shows a sign that was placed there explaining the history of this hammer mill.
