Das "Plönlein" gilt als das Wahrzeichen und beliebtestes Fotomotiv in Rothenburg ob der Tauber. Und viele Touristen meinen im gelben, windschiefen Haus das Plönlein entdeckt zu haben. Übersetzt heißt aber Plönlein „Kleiner Platz am Brunnen“. Gemeint ist damit nicht nur das gelbe Fachwerkhaus, sondern das gesamte Ensemble in der Bildmitte, also auch der Brunnen vor dem gelben Fachwerkhaus, sowie die beiden Türme der alten Stadtmauer, die links und rechts davon hochragen - links der Siebersturm (im Bild).
