Thank you so much for your extremely kind comments. They are really appreciated.

The water is actually a canal at this point, but rather full of water due to recent heavy rains. It is however flowing like a river to carry off the excess over the spillway! As I said to Rosa, and others above, I don't know the history of the house, but it must date back a couple of hundred years or so to the time when the local industry was flourishing.

Hence of course the reason for the 'Black Lion' pub, which is directly behind me in this shot.

I am so happy that you like the rather wet looking scene.
In fact there had been heavy rain the night before, so the canal was somewhat dirty, and of high water level. We had been to the Black Lion pub, which is behind me, and this is the view from the way back (after photgraphing the train ...
