Time Out Of Mind

Steely Dan (Donald Fagen, Walter Becker and ever-changing studio musicians) took over a year in the studio and collaborated with more than forty musicians to produce the Grammy winning 1980 top ten album "Gaucho". During this time Walter Becker was involved in a car accident and his girlfriend died. From that album this is the "Time Out Of Mind" (Walter Becker - Donald Fagen) demo.

The single release of "Time Out Of Mind" reached thirteen on the Adult Contemporary chart and number twenty-two Pop. Some of the well-known musicians involved included Patti Austin, Mark Knopfler, Michael McDonald, David Sanborn and Valerie Simpson. Other misfortunes plagued the production of the album when an assistant engineer erased most of a key track, legal problems with the label and copyright infringement. Donald Fagan continues to tour as Steely Dan following Walter Beckers death in 2017.
