Choo Choo Train (Le Petit Train)
Born in Ukraine composer Alexandre Schwab aka Marc Fontenoy escaped the Russian Revolution with his parents and moved to France in the early nineteen hundreds. A one-time lawyer, Marc’s songs have been recorded in the United States by The Andrews Sisters, Connie Francis and Dinah Shore. Andre Claveau recorded “Le Petit Train” (Claveau – Fontenoy) in 1952.
Doris Day (Kappelhoff) reached number twenty with “Choo Choo Train (Ch-Ch-Foo)” (Jack Lawrence – Marc Fontenoy) in 1953. Bandleader Barney Rapp (Rappaport) really enjoyed her singing “Day After Day” and suggested her name change.
