Calima clearing

My brother-in-law's pride and joy - part of his fruit and veg garden. The mountains could be seen on the horizon for the first time in a week as the Saharan dust cloud (calima) began to disperse.

I don't think Percy Grainger quite had this sort of garden in mind, but you never know!
I've been told that the ripening corn in the fields is wheat and barley. These were the poppy fields of years past (a few photos scattered through my album), but the modern farmer needs to maximise yield and poppies play no part in his thinking.
Full screen please.

je t'ai dédié spécialement aujourd'hui cette photo d'une partie de mes vignes;
un souvenir pour toi lorsque tu travaillais dans les vignes...!
Of course you understand that the garden is nothing to do with me. My brother-in.law is the sole gardener here and he guards his craft very jealously!
One day I might get a small patch of my own but he doesn't yet believe I know anything about gardening, despite my winning third prize for the Harrow Borough front garden in bloom prize many years ago! Unfortunately I didn't take potos in those years otherwise I would have the evidence to show him! Oh well ...!
(I looked online just on the off-chance that there might be some photographic evidence from Harrow Borough's archives, but of course not and anyway it was before the age of the internet!)
Dein Schwager hat sicher einen grünen Daumen.
Wir haben leider sehr schlechte Erde und darauf wächst nicht viel.
Erich
But many thanks, anyway!
