Yes I can imagine the fear of the sailors having reached land, but not being able to get over the rocks - certainly not being able to scale those cliffs. This is a fabulous picture of the rocky coastline.

It looks so benign in calm, summery weather, doesn't it!
But there are horror stories here, not least of wrecking, a practice that the locals here, and all along the coast, gleefully participated in, namely grabbing anything of value from the wreck and if there were survivors, kill them and steel their jewellery etc. Some say 'tweren't so. Most however, think it was indeed the case!

I love the sky and cloud formations and the detail you've captured. The colour of the sea is lovely.

A favourite pastime of mine too, Gordon. I used to use the little known non-touristy paths down and then scramble / rock hop along the shore at low tide. Sadly I would think that's beyond me now!
