River Exe Estuary

River Exe Estuary
Taken during my visit to Exmouth, Devon. Low tide at the estuary is always good as it reveals some great shapes and textures in the sand as you can see here.

There is a slightly different view in the PiP if you have time to look.

Jean Paul Capdeville, Gudrun, trester88, Frans Schols and 16 other people have particularly liked this photo

An impressive low tide. I remember that when I was 8 years old, in low tides like this, we caught crabs and clams and sold them together with my friends. With that money we went to the movies in a nearby town. Today shellfishing is absolutely prohibited

Yes, the tide goes out a very long way, but a lot of the estuary remains relatively shallow. There are a lot of sand bars. I don't know whether anyone catches shellfish there, but if they did, I certainly wouldn't risk eating it.

both images are so lovely to view,
I have not seen too many boats on beaches
waiting for the tide to turn . . but they are
most effective . . my last seen was on the
North East Coast :) long time ago !

I can see how this scene attracted you Keith, it's beautiful with such great shapes and textures. The green Devon hills in the background are lovely too. Two superb pictures. If I had to choose a favourite, I think it would be the PiP...but only just!

Sunday greetings and a good week ahead.

Jean paul

Haha................I'm pretty sure I was in Devon..........unless my SatNav is very much out out date. I'll double-check it next time I visit :-)))

In reality the tide goes out and very long way and the water remains pretty shallow, even some distance from the shore.
