Swans

In Chichester Harbour.
Sadly 30 swans were found dead in the harbour last week. The authorities say bird flu is to blame :-(
Some more swans in the PiP.

beautifully captured Keith.
Keith Burton club has replied to Jaap van 't Veen clubI hope these 6 beauties get away unscathed. They seem to be part of fairly large bevy that you show in the PiP.
Keith Burton club has replied to Amelia clubAlthough these shots were taken on different dates, the swans are part of a huge group that normally hang around at the same place. Before the Government advice not to do so, we used to regularly visit and feed them (with proper swan food and not bread, I hasten to add).
Keith Burton club has replied to Gudrun clubI hope you're wrong about the next pandemic!
Wünsche noch einen schönen Nachmittag, ganz liebe Grüße Güni :))

Keith Burton club has replied to Herb Riddle clubNot sure I like the plot of that book.........glad it's just fiction...........but you can never rule this sort of thing out!
Keith Burton club has replied to Eva Lewitus clubKeith Burton club has replied to Rosalyn HilborneI have just sent some money to the BTO who are getting together with other bird charities and government agencies to collate all their individual data and first quantify the true scale of the flu on wild birds before looking for hot-spots and and possible remedies.

...deren Grab ich an einer Straße bei Allihies gefunden habe....
Keith Burton club has replied to Tanja - Loughcrew clubI just followed the link...........such a charming legend (and one I hadn't heard before).
Technically, the Queen, so nor does our new King didn’t own them, but she had a right, passed down through the centuries, to claim them if she pleased, making her the de facto owner.
Swans were considered a great delicacy in the past though and were often captured for food.
There is now a lovely tradition called "Swan Upping" see this link for more details: www.royal.uk/swans
