Seaworthy???

Seaworthy???
I spotted these two dinghies during a visit to Shoreham-by-Sea, West Sussex. A local chap told me that they were still in regular use! That may be true, but I certainly wouldn't risk using one!

Seaworthy?..............probably not. Photogenic?..........that's up to you.

Please view large if you feel up to it.

Have a good weekend everyone..!!

Isabel...........if you see this, note the blue twine :-))

Fred Fouarge, Amelia, Aschi "Freestone", neira-Dan and 16 other people have particularly liked this photo

I'm not sure I would trust them either Keith :-) I have seen similar in use a lot in Lyme Regis, but not quite as old! The famous blue twine is making an appearance, so not only in Portugal ;-))

They really do make a great picture, and viewed large there is a lot of superb detail in this shot.

Yes, they've definitely been used (and probably abused) quite a lot. Glad you like the photo Wilhelm.

It is possible with a coat of paint and praying a response, better than traveling on a cruise.
Have a nice Sunday my friend.

I would think you'd have to do more praying than painting Anton. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you've had a good weekend.

De toute façon pour naviguer avec ces barques, il faudrait un peu d'eau.

I think these are probably much safer without water Jean-luc. ;-)))

I just love the peeling paint showing multi coloured layers and the rust complements it perfectly! I'd have to see the dinghis when the tide is in before I'd trust them;-)

Thank you Gudrun...........glad you like the photo. As I've just said to Jean-luc, I think these boats would be much safer without water ;-)))

excellent capture of these dubious seaworthy craft, Keith

I presume that this was taken during the drought in August, Keith. It looks as if there should be some tidal water, or any water, here for at least some of the time, but there are cracks in the clay. Time to go back to see if they are holding water since the rains came, then make an informed guess about their seaworthiness. ;-)

You're quite correct Amelia. They would normally be floating (or not) at least at high tide. I don't get to Shoreham very often, but I'll check them out if I remember.
