Ardrishaig Harbour

Ardrishaig Harbour
A seat at Ardrishaig Harbour. Ardrishaig is a small coastal village on Loch Gilp, an arm of Loch Fyne, and is the Gateway to the Crinan Canal, a nine mile stretch that links Loch Fyne to the Sound of Jura at Crinan opened in 1809.

Ardrishaig is an important harbour for the timber trade, with at least 30,000 tonnes of timber leaving from the second pier, just out of sight on the left, each year.

The lighthouse that can be seen in the picture is Ardrishaig Point Lighthouse

I get quite excited when people post pictures of places I have visited!!
We stopped in Ardrishaig a few times for lunch but it was nice to stop and take some photos too, especially as the weather was so good

Thank you very much Henri. We have often seen huge piles of wood on one of the two piers waiting for transportation but further down on the right you can see pleasure boats using the locks and it is all very tranquil. You are most welcome Henri

Thank you very much Markus. It is very peaceful here and along the Crinan Canal. I could spend hours watching the boats, - but then I am not the ones doing the hard work and opening the lock gates!!!!
