A Place to Sit and Dream (PiP)

Staxigoe Harbour, Caithness, a peaceful little harbour that was once the largest herring station in Europe, and is now a place to sit and dream.

The PiP shows an old, rusty hand winch that stands near to the stack from which the harbour gets it's name.(Staxigoe means the inlet of the Stack)

In the 1990's we were on holiday in Torquay and said whatever was on in the theatre there, we would book tickets. Luckily it was The Roy Orbison Story, (musical) which was absolutely fantastic. Thanks Andy. No the harbour became too small so a new harbour was built at Wick to accommodate the herring, or 'silver darling' industry.
