I don't think it claimed to be a pier when I used to cycle down there to watch the sunsets sixty years ago. A lovely one you have photographed here.

It is listed as England's shortest pier, - it says it all that you didn't think it was listed as one!!!
It is still in good condition though which is more thatn can be said for the sadly dilapidated Birnbeck Pier in Weston. Hopefully it will eventually be renovated!

I can't find it here now, but I have recalled the time I was temporarily marooned out on Birnbeck, while visiting a couple of clients when I was a trainee social worker. They ran the café and lived above it, until the husband lost his second leg to gangrene and they had to live in the steamer ticket office. The tide was high and the wind was blowing and I had to stay there for a couple of extra hours until things calmed down a bit.

What a great story Phil. It must have been a little hair-raising!! I can remember a trip from there as a child, and the cafe. It is so sad to see it now but hopefully something will be down to restore it before it becomes too bad to restore.

Diese Amusement Piers in England fand ich schon immer sehr merkwürdig :-) Ich hatte so ein Pier das erste Mal als junger Mann in Felixtow gesehen. Jetzt höre ich die Kinder schreien, die Geldmünzen in den Maschinen rollen und die Flippergeräte Klingeln... Die Musik von Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel passt wunderbar dazu.
