Sunset on Stones

05 Aug 2024 33 42 202
Another from the archives, this time back to 2011 captured in front of Taigh An Clachair, the property where we stayed in Lybster. The setting sun kisses the standing stones and turns them a fiery red. The perfect end to the day.

A Joyous New Year

31 Dec 2023 66 87 387
Captured at the end of the jetty at Burnham on Sea, Somerset. One little girl has her eyes firmly on the horizon and the other jumps for joy so a fitting image for New Year's Eve I think. Happy New Year to you all. Whatever lies over the horizon I wish you all good health and happiness in 2024. Life is a beach so whether you are leaving your own footprints in the sand, watching the sun setting on the horizon with a sense of wonder or feeling the breeze ruffling your hair, the sun on your back, sand between your toes or the first soft raindrops on your face I wish you joy and enrichment from these simple pleasures. I also wish you safe harbour in life's stormy times and light to brighten the darker moments. Thank you for all your continued friendship and support in 2023. Happy New Year!

The End of the Line

25 Jan 2023 42 50 296
Golden light on the beach at Burnham on sea and in the foreground the end of a small channel dug out by some energetic young beach visitors. I have added 'End of the Line' by the Traveling Wilburys www.youtube.com/watch?v=UMVjToYOjbM This picture is for Pam who misses the sea, and for all those who are not fortunate to be able to enjoy the wonder of sunset on sea. The music 'The End of the Line' refers to where the channel 'line' reaches the sea, but it is also because the music is uplifting and Tom Petty had such a cute smile in this video!! Best viewed large I think. Thank you

Channel to Channel (PiP)

05 Jan 2023 63 73 370
Captured early evening at Burnham on sea, Somerset. The good weather brought people to the beach to enjoy a stroll or a little beach fun. Some creative visitor to the beach has created a channel, or groove, all the way down to the water's edge. As this is Bridgwater Bay, on the Bristol Channel, it is effectively 'channel to channel'. I have included a PiP from later on in the evening showing a dog having fun on the beach. An instrumental called 'A Summer Night's Dream' is my musical link and is performed by EUGE GROOVE www.youtube.com/watch?v=BanxB4jtK8U

Sunset Over The Bay

07 Apr 2022 67 114 562

Combwich Wharf (PiP) HFF

02 Jul 2020 68 84 598
Evening light on Combwich Wharf on the River Parrett, Somerset. Once the site of an ancient ferry crossing the port was used for the export of local goods and import of timber from the 15th Century. The village was the centre for brick and tile making from as long ago as 1842, and it served as the local brick and coal yard until the 1930s when the creek silted up. The spur of water that served the wharf is known as Combwich Pill and Combwich wharf is currently being used for the delivery of large equipment for use on the Hinkley Point C power station The PiP shows an historic channel marker buoy at the wharf. I have added a song by the Grateful Dead, - 'Wharf Rats' www.youtube.com/watch?v=l_pH-RWHLyo

Money, Power and Glory

04 Jun 2020 89 118 760
Taken at Steart, Nr Bridgwater. Looking out over the Bristol Channel with Hinkley Point power stations A - C in the distance, The A station reactors have been decommissioned, B station is still active and the building of C station is well underway. All that money and power - but the glory is all natural with this golden sunset. I have added Lana del Rey and 'Money, Power and Glory' www.youtube.com/watch?v=l3t8L5sfJto

The Tree

07 Jan 2020 93 80 674
Pictured on the Somerset Levels. I loved the shape of this poor broken tree, and also the way it seemed to point like an arrow in the direction of the softly setting sun. I have added a song called 'Broken' by the Trees www.youtube.com/watch?v=RIMV-V_-AAI and 'Directions' by Carole King www.youtube.com/watch?v=TwUCiLS2Cbc

Golden Oldie - HFF!

Sea Loch Sunset

01 Feb 2016 69 83 1239
Early evening sunset at Loch Leven The evening light lends a pink warmth to this shot, and whilst it is not brick, nor technically a wall the the breakwater and the colours made me think of 'Another Brick in the Wall' by Pink Floyd www.youtube.com/watch?v=9SmRIGd6zvg Please view large - 'press z'
