A Winter Walk in Weston (PiPs) HBM

Taken at Weston Super Mare, North Somerset on the first dry day in quite a while.
Just around the corner is the abandoned and derelict Birnbeck Pier, and on our walk we discovered a little wall garden full of painted stones and ornaments including a fairy. I have not been able to discover why it is there but it brightened up a rather dull day.

There was a bench but it was too cold to sit - so I just had to 'Walk on By'

Thank you very much Diana. It was nice to see so many stones, some painted to look like ladybirds or vehicles or just brightly coloured patterns. I wondered if it might be a school project but it was just nice to see a bit of colour on a bleak day.

Three lovely pictures Carol. Such a shame about Birnbeck Pier. It could be such an asset to Weston. I have an old postcard of it from Victorian times. I love the painted stones. A nice discovery :-)

Thank you very much Rosa. Yes I have memories of it as a child and taking a boat trip from Birnbeck. So many times there have been plans to restore the pier but hopefully the current ones have enough backing fo make it happen. I, for one, will be delighted to see it happen.

Thank you very much George. I tried to find out what it was for but without any luck. It was a nice touch of colour on a grey day though.
Betty's idea was delightful though. She says that in France people take painted pebbles with them from one place and leave them in another and the fairies are to wish them a happy stay and safe and nice trip.
