Skoruvíkurbjarg
The cliffs of Skoruvíkurbjarg and the rock Stóri Karl are home to the second largest breeding colony of northern gannets in Iceland. The cliffs also house large numbers of (Brünnichs) guillemots as well as puffins, kittiwakes and razorbills.

Die Klippen von Skoruvíkurbjarg mit dem Felsen Stóri Karl beherbergen die zweitgrößte isländische Brutkolonie von Basstölpeln. Außerdem brüten an den Klippen zahlreiche Trottellummen und Dickschnabellummen sowie Papageientaucher, Dreizehenmöwen und Tordalke.

Schönen Dank, Uli! Die Vögel lieben solche Felsen, von denen sie gut starten können:-) Es gibt eine richtige Hierarchie, wo welche Arten brüten und die Form der Eier ist angepasst, dass sie nicht von Felsen rollen können.

Fascinating images Gudrun...............it's amazing how many birds manage to squeeze into such a relatively small area and build nests, lay eggs, and look after their young - without falling off the cliffs..!!

Very nicely taken. I especially like the close up shot in the main picture, but all are very good.

Thank you, Keith! They have built a good viewing platform there so you can watch everything. It's really amazing how they live on such steep cliffs, even the form of the eggs is adapted so they cannot roll off.

Großen Dank, Tanja! Das Wasser war ziemlich ruhig (bei Wind wäre ja auch der Nebel weggewesen!), aber ein bisschen Schaum war doch, gut für's Bokeh.
