Pohlia wahlenbergii var. glacialis

Found on Hellisheiði eystri, Iceland's highest mountain (road) pass. The intense neon green can only be seen at higher elevations alongside streams. It's Pohlia wahlenbergii var. glacialis, an arctic moss species.

Auf Hellisheiði eystri, Islands höchstem Pass, über den eine Strasse führt. Das intensive Neongrün des Mooses findet man nur in höheren Lagen entlang von Wasserläufen. Es handelt sich um Pohlia wahlenbergii var. glacialis, ein unbenetzbates arktisches Quellflurmoos (Wassertropfen bleiben wie Perlen oben auf dem Moos stehen).

I think it's alpine clubmoss which likes areas with lots of snow in winter. You don't see it in the lowlands. But all mosses in iceland tend to get greener with more moisture, in dry conditions they look grey.

Schönen Dank, Uli! Hmm, Zugriff verweigert...? Ich vernute, es ist Lycopodium alpinum (Alpen-Bärlapp), kommt in Island im Süden nur in den Bergen oder im Norden vor und liebt Ecken, wo im Winter viel Schnee liegt.

Bei uns in der Migros gibts Isländisch-Moos-Tabletten. Sehen aus wie kleine grüne Kissen. Sollen auch für einen klareren Hals sorgen, aber ich nehm die manchmal auch einfach so, weil sie ganz gut schmecken :-)

Aha, das sind wirklich Bonbons, und günstiger als meine;-) Ich habe Islamoos immer in der Tasche, wenn ich z.B. fliege, weil da die Luft oft so trocken ist.
