Selfoss

Selfoss is the southernmost waterfall at Jökulsárgljúfur, just 1 km from better known Dettifoss. It is 10m high and horseshoe shaped. Dettifoss may be higher and mightier but Selfoss is more varied and much less visited.

Großen Dank, Uwe! Ja, es rauscht ziemlich;-) Was ich am beeindruckendsten finde: die ganze Schlucht soll nnerhalb weniger Tage entstanden sein, als gewaltige Wassermassen nach Vulkanausbrüchen da runterschossen.

Hi Gudrun,

I am very impressed by all these pictures, You have certainly caught the power of the water here. I visited Iceland in 2010, and saw many of the waterfalls (Seljalandsfoss, Skogafoss, Godafoss, etc,) but unfortunately not Dettifoss. Good reason to go back again!!

Many thanks, Peter, much appreicated! This year I didn't see Dettifoss, we visited there in 2014 but missed Selfoss so this time I went for the smaller one. There are so many waterfalls in Iceland and all are fantastic!
