Skælingur

Skælingur is a 832m high mountain between Húsavík and Loðmundarfjörður. A very steep jeep track crosses the ridge to the the left of it. The last permanent inhabitants have left the area in the 1970s but the touring club of Fljótsdalshérað now runs hiking huts.

Herzlichen Dank, Udo! Ja, die absolute Höhe ist geringer, aber wir sind im Tal nicht viel über Meereshöhe:-) Das Gestein ist auch nicht Kalk sondern Basalt.

Thanks a lot, Amelia! Yes, this was the dissolving mist. They are running 3 huts, one in each fjord/ bay roughly a day's walk distance (lots of ups and downs).
