Marsden, its valleys and reservoirs

Marsden, its valleys and reservoirs
A look down the valley from the top of three reservoirs in a row here. I am actually stood on the dam wall of Wesseden, with the one below, Blakeley, just out of sight tucked in the valley and the one we can see is the bottom reservoir called Butterley. Beyound that is the large West Yorkshire village of Marsden. A three mile hike from that reservoir to here. In this cold 4C windy weather, its a good job we have brought a flask of hot coffee!

A fantastic landscape........I love the earthy colours and the light reflected on the surface of the reservoir. Some good cloud definition too. Superbly composed with that little stone building anchoring the shot very nicely. Excellent as always Herb!

As usual Keith, I much appreciate your thoughts and comments here. This is more countryside in reality - quite different from yours.

Lovely picture but unfortunately it remembers me instantly of "one sort of" last war old machine gun, I am getting very old my friend...the other was Madsen.

Hi Jose and good to see you again. Sorry that this name brings back bad memories. I imagine a lot of World names are similar. Hoped you liked the picture all the same.

I might have opted for some whisky added to that coffee myself!
A bleakly romantic landscape, worthy of a gothic novel

Hi Herb

I really like this landscape

Great composition with the hut, fence and spillway making a prominent triangle as a focus

Best Wishes, HFF, and a good weekend
