The rocks of Glassillaun Bay

The rocks of Glassillaun Bay
Another look at this gorgeous bay. By the time I had walked to the far edge of the bay the clouds had thickened up with the promise of weather to come. A dice with death here as my feet was beginning to slip whilst bend down to get this p.o.v. A vertical format here to give a sense of depth with this outcrop of very interesting rock.
As usual- best viewed full screen on black.

This works great in portrait format. The leading lines in the rocks are spot-on as is the amount of detail you've captured throughout the whole image. I also like the colour of the seaweed. The background and that threatening sky are superb.

Yep............I like it..!!

As usual Keith, you speak from the heart when reviewing a photo. Great that my vision of this came up to expectations in the end. Of course, the sky like this, with this foreground works well too.

Totally outstanding. How awesome to meet yet another (not speaking of myself, but insetead, like Keith above, for example) who is such a master at this craft. You have enough experience to understand a good shot and how best to share what it is that is so special. I absolutely LOVE seeing this ability portrayed so exceptionally. I feel I am here, crouched down on this slippery footing, looking out across the bay. I get to appreciate that gorgeous, detailed texture and detail of those wonderful encrusted rocks, and at the same time, I see the magic of the bay beyond with such wonderful clarity all the way back. Of course, this image would be equally successful if the background exploded into bokeh, but this is a better way to show what you were seeing. FANTASTIC. Your choice of a vertical was also a perfect telling of your experienced judgement. Gallery-worthy. *high five*

I also wanted to say thank you for your visits to my photo stream and your wonderful comments about my pictures! As well, your remarks about my descriptions, which I freely admit, are often very long. I guess the story is that I am doing two things: I am writing something for Pam to enjoy (as my photography reboot is all because of her...go back to my first picture of this project to read about that), and I am also presenting a journal entry of my day. I do go on and on but it's it's fun to journal...lasting memories this way and to my great surprise, people really seem to enjoy my musings. :) And...I guess I cannot help but write about my pictures so there you go! :)

Hoping you have a lovely day, and of course, I look forward to seeing your next incredible image!

Janet, your comment here goes far beyond the realms of a normal comment and I must admit to being flattered by it all. After seeing your gallery and also witnessing the amount of care and time you go to, to create perfect images, then I am again honoured indeed. As you have noticed, I take my almost 'happy snappy 'attitude of taking the original photos to limits well beyond what most people would think sane and that is often surpassed by the time and effort I go into editing the results. Why - mainly for my own satisfaction but also sometimes to get comment back like yours. In that, I fully understand the feel of photographic professionals in their search for perfection.

In practice, even though retired, I cannot spend the time to pen as much as this in comments nor my descriptions as you seem to do. ~ I take the point about a possible bokeh background too - ah, so many choices but in practice my lens is not very good for that. I am almost halfway through my recent Irish fortnights holiday with this shot.

Your on-going personal diary (almost) to Pam, is both revealing and heart-warming and I shall try to read more of those too. In the meantime, I shall endeavour, further, to follow the last couple of my photos that you admire with more that you can muse about and that I can be proud off.

Best Wishes, Herb
ps, like your comments, I look forward to Keith's heart-felt comments too.

Wow...just wow...Herb, thank you so much for your deep and sincere comment. It was so nice to read and think about. It really is wonderful to have the skills to be able to work with our photos to make them the best they can be. We both believe that the subjects deserve the attention, because we love how they made us feel when we captured the image. It is our desire to express this in a way that people can get as much of our experience as possible. Kindred spirits are awesome things, no? :)

I also love handing out the pats on the back, because we all enjoy feeling good about our photography, no matter where we are on that journey. Just because you can consistently produce outstanding pictures doesn't mean you don't like a heartfelt compliment too. :)

My verbose style is part of who I am--of course it doesn't hurt that I am an extremely fast typer! :D It's very important that I can give back and make people happy, to give encouragement, to inspire, to contribute in some way to add to a person's positive aspects of their day. It makes me feel great and everyone (ok, within reason) deserves to feel good about themselves! :)

I'm so glad that you are enjoying my journal entries too! :) It's been a lot of fun and has helped me too. Who knew that coming back to help a friend would make such a big change in my life?!

Looking forward to your next picture! :D

Ha ha my friend, don't let me influence you too much, in case you don't like it :) I am almost finished with my first week of Ireland here, just one or two more perhasp from the Northern bit here in County Galway before I head for my second week in Count Kerry, a place with at least as many photo opportunities. Great that you have enjoyed these and again my thanks for that magnificent golden star.
