A Day at the Seaside

A Day at the Seaside
Taken during an overcast, but very warm afternoon on Hayling Island, Hampshire. The gravel spit provides a nice and safe area for families and children to enjoy a swim and is very popular.

Out of shot to the right is a nice pub with a restaurant, and a small café and ice-cream shop and public toilets. There is plenty of parking and a nice footpath if you fancy a walk.

Thank you Jaap. I've had a couple of decent meals in the restaurant and the beer is pretty good as well.

There was a flooded disused gravel pit not far from me in Middlesex and I remember swimming in it in the early 80s only for it to be closed to swimmers shortly after on health and safety grounds. It was beautifully sited and just like being in the country and not in a built up London suburb (which it was).
