My 1995 visit to Toronto

In late 1995, my wife and I made a quick trip to Toronto: we'd won the trip plus tickets to some shows. :)
We walked around a bit downtown. I was struck by how visible the poor had become since my last visit a decade before. Ten years later again, the poor were visible everywhere, including our home town.
The lessons of collective charity and governmental goodwill to all, learnt by the experience of WW2, had been forgotten and the new age of neoliberalism was kicking in.
