White-crowned sparrow


I don't know how many of these are around here right now but I saw one listed on a local "rare birds" list this morning. It wasn't *this* one as it was reported a good 200 km from here as the uhh sparrow flies.
They are rare enough that I can't remember the last one I saw in our back yard..
This fellow poked around the peanuts which the juncos and the rain had uncovered from the snow we had earlier today. But he turned his nose up at the peanuts, and flew away.
