My husband's grandfather is the man sitting down on the left, wearing (I think) a trilby.
This is a team in Springfield, Vermont - probably high school - and Ernest and the other man are the coaches, I assume. Ernest had been an excellent baseball player, in his youth.
I believe this was taken sometime in the 1930s.

une belle photo d 'époque ! les visages sont très modernes. Pas de moustaches , pas de barbes. A cette même époque, en Europe , en France, les personnes du même âge , portaient souvent la moustache ou la barbe !

Great vintage photo. Love the trilby hat. I didn't know that's what it was called. Famed Notre Dame football coach of that period, Knute Rockne, wore the identical style hat frequently.

Oh dear, Alan and Rick - I may have misinformed you! Looking at photos on line, it appears that the hat is probably a fedora,not a Trilby!
Never count on me for men's fashion information!
