The Children

(Sliding in a little late for the theme.)
Uploaded for the Vintage Photos Theme Park theme of :
PHOTO THAT PULLS AT YOUR HEARTSTRINGS—POIGNANT
This came with some photos that I ordered online - quite a few of them from Europe, although this had no identifying information.
The little girl and boy look so poor, yet so connected, stoic, and ...I can't think of the word that I want.
It looks to me like a post-War photo, with a bombed out building in the background and the children reflecting the effects of war trauma.
This is (of course) speculation, knowing nothing of their real lives.
