In 1951 Detroit's Al Kent (Albert Hamilton) recorded "Am I The Man" (Hamilton). Al re-recorded the song again in 1957. Neither version charted.

Jackie Wilson's "Am I The Man" (Bob Hamilton - Tom King) hit number ten R&B and thirty-two Pop in 1960. The track is featured on that year's LP "A Woman, A Lover, A Friend".
