The safety fence couldn't hold this truck!!

HFF!
It would appear that the sequence of events is this:
1) Something in front of the orange truck slowed down suddenly.
2) The driver of the orange truck braked hard, and steered toward the hard shoulder to avoid a collision. (Note this truck is very lightly loaded, and can therefore stop easily)
3). The red truck, being an artic fully loaded with roadstone. could not stop in such a short distance, and hit the rear of the orange truck pushing it through the barrier.

Glad you like it. Of course you will know this road very well. Maybe you heard of this on your news? As for the state of the drivers, I have no idea.

I too think that there are too many trucks on the roads, and not enough on the railways!

... my last autobahn experience was 20+ years ago, and I was impressed then with truck traffic: strictly 100kph, right lane only, regimented and safe ... apparently some changes have occurred?
HFF and y'all have a great weekend ...
Peter_Private_Box club has replied to L. L. Wall clubThank you for visiting!
I am pleased you found it interesting.
The trucks are governed down to speed limits, and the Germans particularly are good at following their orders! In this case it would appear to be a serious lack of attention..
Best Wishes, HFF, and a Good Weekend,

As to the aftermath, I have no idea. Those of us on motorbikes were sent on our way as soon as enough of the wreckage was removed.

As you know I was very busy with some reasons for the last two weeks. So I could not be on ipernity.
Now I found some time to look at fence pictures in this Friday night.
It is an interesting picture for HFF. A wonderful view ,and horrible accident!
I remember that one of the lorries crush the barriers.. Fortunatelly the helicopter came very quickly...
Do you remember we had have seen, some long tails of lorries, on German highway many times ?
As Gudrun said, too many lorries, and maybe too many tired drivers...
Anyway HFF and have a wonderful weekend and a wonderful holiday!
Love Füsun

As for the collision, I have written what I know above. Perhaps inattentive..
But you are right, we have seen many Kms of trucks nose to tail.. Some of which would be better on the railway!
Best Wishes, HFF, and a Good Weekend,
Love Peter

As to the injuries sustained, your guess is a s good as mine, considering the Hiab on the back of the orange truck is a pretty substantial piece of metalwork!

I am so happy that you like the scene. For right or for wrong, the safety fences are not designed to survive the onslaught of a direct hit by 40 tonnes!!
Best Wishes, (slightly late) HFF, and a Good Weekend,
Peter
You've captured the sequence very well.
A belated HFF to you, Peter, and stay safe. :)

Unfortunately, I know nothing of the aftermath and outcomes of this, but I am sure there is a lesson or two to be learned!

Thank you so much for the explanation of this fascinating picture! Right away I was curious what I was looking at. Then I could see it was a crash. Then I read your text and studied the picture at full size to inspect all the details. WOW! Great angle to show the trucks. It's too bad there was an accident, and I hope nobody was hurt.
Thank you for the presentation, I felt like I was there!
Peter_Private_Box club has replied to Janet Brien clubThank you so much for your visit, and taking the time to look and consider it. Unfortunately this took a while to clear, and hence I had plenty of time to record the scene.
Sorry for a late response, I have been away. More pictures will follow to show that adventure.
Best Wishes
Peter
it' s really a great photo. There are often crashes in Germany and this is unfortunately a picture often seen. And ... there are many details here to see - especially the sunflowers. HFF (belated), wish you a nice sunday !
Greetings from Germany
Percy
Peter_Private_Box club has replied to Percy Schramm clubThank you so much. I am glad you have enjoyed the photography. What did impress me was the very efficient way that this was dealt with, and the way the motorists in the tailback followed their orders, and left the way clear for the emergency response vehicles.
Sorry for a late response, I have been away, but not Germany this time!
Best Wishes
Peter
