I wish my flowers had been as sensible as these Andy...most are burnt by the scorching sun! Thankfully it is much cooler now, but the garden has had it for this summer!!

The flowers usually open from late afternoon or at dusk (namely between 4 and 8 o'clock), giving rise to one of its common names.

Yes, I discovered that this year. I don't recall seeing them in England, and last year when I might have seen them in our garden, I didn't because I was hospitalised!
They are certainly beautiful. We also have the white ones but they wouldn't fit into this shot. One whole flowerbed is given over to these and gladioli. and a treat for sore eyes it is too!

I don't show rhe white here. On my walk into Algete, there is a front garden which has them all in one large flowerbed. I don't like taking photos of other peoples property though; so i'll stick to this (smaller) flower bed,

As for the photo - a beautiful flower in different colours. Great that it comes to its best after the sun has gone down - then it's on its own while the others are closing down after the sun.

Thank you, Jenny. From knowing nothing about this plant until last year, I've been seeing it all over the place and members also comment that it is rampant where they live and so on. Life is like that sometimes, as with buses (you wait ages for one, then three turn up at the same time!). Part of life's rich tapestry, I suppose!
... And as for Chicago, I used to love this song then forgot about it completely for the best part of 35 years! I re-discovered it by accident on YouTube when I was searching for something else. i'm pleased I found it again after all these years!

I did have the Chicago Transit Authority (album) on vinyl. I think this was their debut album. I have kept quite a few albums on vinyl for lots of different peeps but don't know if I kept this album. Could have been daft enough to have sold it I guess!
