Brilliant. Does your fig tree produce the fruit before the leaves? I only ask because mine does!!! That looks a lovely house

Some varieties I had did that, they produced embryonic fruit at the end of the previous year and therefore took about 8-9 months to do their thing! Other varieties appeared more normally, as we would, perhaps erroniously, put it!
And yes, the house is on the large size and very nicely appointed inside and out, Jenny!

Mine, in the centre-north of France, does not bear fruit. But it is only 4 years old :-) With the warming up I expect it to produce some in the next decade or so, no?

I had a tree that didn't bear fruit and I was told it was male of female (I forget which) and would never bear fruit! I would suggest you Google it to find out more, Eric!

My dear Andy, your information source doesn't seem to be a fig specialist! Or maybe you fooled me ? :-) Female and male fig trees bear fruit, admittedly at different times of the year - and this is the main way in which they can be distinguished.
However, I have learnt some things from this research, such as the fact that fig trees have flowers but not visible because they are inside the fruit. Figs are in fact not fruits as such but inflorescences. Also that they are pollinated by a single insect, the blastophagus (Blastophaga psenes L.), a hymenoptera related to wasps and bees, which I'll leave you to look up on the internet!
In short, I am reassured: with global warming my fig tree has every chance of providing me with figs. If the increasing drought gives it life.....

Thank you, Angelika! I can't say it's my house - I am just fortunate enough that my sister was able to acquire it 5 years ago at a knock-down price and they had a spare room when things went belly-up for me due to my various illnesses and the lack of work anyway due to Covid! So, lucky me!
