I had a visit from Mia and Ellen yesterday which is always good fun. Mia is really getting around well now and is a little bundle of energy. They stayed around for an hour or so until Mia was ready for her dinner so off they went. Zazzles is a poorly little fella. He has developed a nasty rash in the last couiple of days so this morning Ellen took him to the vet. It turns out he is allergic to fleas saliva. He is half way hrough his monthly course of flea protection so this was a surprise bu…

After three weeks with plenty of rain and a storm on Wednesday I managed to get the grass cut .Yesterday I tackled the front and got it all mowed and strimmed. I then started on the back but only managed to mow the top section before my back started tiring so I quit. Today I was out again after my shopping trip and doing it in sections with good breaks inbetween. I finally finished and cleaned my tools a little while ago and just in time. The rain has started agsin,Oh Goody.

    - 19 Jul 2016 - 7 comments
On Sunday and yesterday the afternoons turned out warm to vvery warm. Today the temps had reached 24c by 6:30am. We have thunderstorms due tomorrow so this morning I decided to cut and strim the back grass while I had the chance. Taking it steadily and having three breaks I had it done by 11:30 by which time the temp had reached 27c. The day continued to get hotter and peaked at 31c,nice weather for a walk? well if the humidity wasn't 82% it would have been. I settled on dead heading the flow…

  • Sunshine and Zazzles

    - 06 Jul 2016 - 4 comments
Yesterday morning the sun returned and dried the last batch of rain away. i haven't decided whatto do with the planters yet,my latest idea was just to pick them up and plonk them at random around the garden. The first lot look Ok so that might be the may to go. I like random. I have two photos of Zazzles. One enjoying a siesta on the garden table. The other having a nighttime snooze an a cabinet not really large enough for him. He fell off of course.

after 9 days of a little sun and a lot of rain today dawn much better. After a coffee break and feeling good I turned my attention to the back. The flowers are not having a good time this year, the petunias have been completely eaten by some thing as have some if the begonias. • A morning stroll in the sun

    - 23 Jun 2016 - 4 comments
Thois morning we had a beattiful blue sky with white fluffy clouds sailing by like old galleons in full sail. Perfect weather for a stroll. I set of for the village taking the longer route and snapping a few photos along the way. This looked a little odd at first glance then I noticed more legs than normal and the top of another head,a mother protecting her young one. There were not many animals around only livestock so I snapped what I saw as I headed up Thorney towards the beach. It…

The last few days have been a mixture of high winds, calm days, sunny days and rainy days, nothing unusual then. We had a squall blow in overnight a few days ago and upended a few things in the garden,my table had a little flight as did a few plant pots but no real damage done, the table was easily fixed. Rain and then sun is good for growing things, the grass had a real spurt and looked as if it was getting away from me but a dry day yesterday and this morning put me back on track and now both f…

  • roses wrecked

After a couple of days of showers this morning we had a full on cloud burst. Sooty ran in making it known he was very wet and it needed a good wedge of kitchen towel to dry him off. Then I noticed trouble in the garden. A few blooms have been appearing for the last few days but after the rain all three of the larer ones ended up on the ground, typical of the little tricks mother nature throws at us up here.

A lovely sunny morning after two overcast days brought a lovely surprise. Ellen appeared with Mia,she had managed to kidnap her for the day. mia was her normal delightful self until I took the camera out to take a photo then she put on her glum face. We took her into the garden and she was quite happy just sitting on the grass, something they don't have at home. It is hard to believe she is now a year old Soon it was time for them to leave and I set to and cut and strimmed the front grass.…

Yesterday and today have been sun filled and very warm, perfect gardening weather. Yesterday I mowed and strimmed the back garden in an hiur and this morning I finished the front in half that time.If the weather lets me get regular cuts it should all be easy for the rest of the summer but that's a long shot Ellen came over today and sent me a photo of Mia looking very grown up,she was at the beach with her mother and uncle Carl. I took this shot of the rascal Zazzles, this is what happens if…

I caught the bus home and as I stepped of it a young neighbour Paul told me that Bargain Booze were on the last day of a sale on…

  • a little weeding and a revamp

    - 25 May 2016 - 6 comments
After a rest day yesterday I was raring to go today. I sorted the cats out when I got up made a coffee and heded out the front garden. It was 6:50 I wanted an early start to avoid any interutions. The flower beds were in bad need of weeding and I had a dead rose bush to get rid of. Working steadily and with a little help from the cats I wrapped up at 7:30 with the garden looking a lot better. Yesterday as I sat in the recliner a sudden thought came to mind, three of the panters I moved are in…
