cold weather coming
- 04 Nov 2016 - 5 commentsAfter October treated us to wild weather with a lot of sunshine November is proving a little harsher. The winds have changing to north to northwest blowing winds in from the direction of Iceland. We have had icy rain today, frost can't be far off. Our own little explorer Mia is ready for whatever the weather brings. She is growing so fast

We will pay for that later no doubt. here are a handfull of odd photos taken throughout the month. My neighbours cat and my cats new pal Alfie, they allow him in the house and that has been unheard of with any other cat Zazzles following his f…

We don't get nice autumnal colours here it is just from green to brown. The start of the walk took me on a little hike through some rough spots On to the path that cuts through the valley Before dipping down and ending at the bottom of the rise you see top of photo There was a little colour down there…

A little sun and a lot of work
- 07 Oct 2016 - 4 commentsIt is a little overcast this morning but after 4 days of sunshine I can't complain. I have spent the sunny days knocking the garden into some sort of shape, something everybody in the street has been doing as well. I was hoping for a nice sunny morning to have a stroll now the work has been done but no such luck. A day spent resting these old bones is plan B.

The sun still shines and visitors
- 04 Oct 2016 - 4 commentsThe sun is shining for the third day running, the temps are down but it is a much more cheerful place to be. The grass was so wet it still han't dried enough to mow, maybe tomorrow. I was expecting Ellen yesterday, she was picking Zazzles up for a visit to the vets for a couple of jabs. Half an hour before she was due and the door opened,it was Gemma and Mia. Gemma had walked Mia round attatched to one of those safety lines,a trip that lasted quite a while according to Gemma. mia soon settled i…

A strange object in the sky
- 02 Oct 2016 - 5 commentsI awoke to a strange sight,a large yellow object was hanging in the sky. It took me a few moments torealise it was the sun. This called for an early morning stroll so after feeding the cats I set off for a leg stretcher and it felt so good. There is a price to pay for the clear skies of course, the temps fell to 6c overnight but things warmed up to a giddy 12c by 10 o'clock. I catted to Jenny last night before she set off on her overnight flight to Turkey, she will be tired today so I don't expec…

That was hot
- 14 Sep 2016 - 5 commentsAfter ysterdays mix of mist heavy rain and a little sun today came as a surprise. I awoke to sun and it stayed all day reaching 30.4c in my sheltered back garden this afternoon. I could have done with cutting and strimming the grass but it was much to nice a day to spend working. I had breakfast and lunch in the garden under the parosol with the cats joining me for some shelter. Others in the area must have had the same idea because there was no sounds of garden tools all day,a little piece of…

Breakout
- 12 Sep 2016 - 4 commentsFed up of being cabined up so many times this year today I made a break for freedom. A trip to see my Mother was the plan. I decided on walking the whole route instead of catching the bus part of the way. I thought what is the point in breaking out if I spend much of the time in a steel overcoat in the shape of the bus. The weather was overcast with a threat of rain but It went for it anyway. Black Combe was shrouded in cloud and barely visible and people were thin on the ground as I set of a…

Good work in the sunshine and a nice surprise
- 29 Aug 2016 - 5 commentsThe first job was to get my laundry started which I did. After days sun and showers yesterday started drying things up so today it was back into the garden for yet another catch up. I started on the front and had that sorted before lunch, time to hang the washing on the whirly before a brew and a chew. Rested and well fed I brought the washing in and started on the back garden. It took over 3 hours with a couple of breaks but I managed it. I was sat on the back stepsoaking up a few rays when…

Rain storm
- 22 Aug 2016 - 4 commentsWe came to the end of 18 hours of really heavy rain early this afternoon. My garden is mostly under water of course. A few miles away a man was rescued from his submerged car and lots of home flooded. The rain stopped as suddenly as it started and the sun broke through, since then I have seen very little of the cats except for feeding.

The rain returns
- 19 Aug 2016 - 5 commentsAfter 4 days of glorious sunny weatherr,my t shirt, shorts and bare feet have given way to sports shirt long trousers and slippers. I had an exchange deal with Gracie, she sent me sunshine and I sent her rain. Unfortunately the rain has been blown back before it reached her. At least I got my garden into some sort of order and managed to drag everything from my workshop outside and steam cleaned the floor Today I will be watching the Olyimpic Games a lot I guess while the rain falls outside.…

At last some sunshine
- 15 Aug 2016 - 5 commentsAfter another bout of bad weather at last the sun returned.I woke to two purring cats and a cloudless sky. . A busy day ahead, the first job after feeding the cats was to start a wash going.and then some breakfast. The big job today was of course tackloing the garden once more so I cut and strimmed to front grass before hanging the washing on the whirly and having a break before a trip to the local shop for some cow juice. Then the biggy ,I started to strim the smaller side of the garden and a…

She's a grand lass
- 10 Aug 2016 - 4 commentsEllen came over today and brought a spray flea and tick remover. We had two jobs to do spray the carpet and soft furniture in here and steam clean the kitchen floor. Ellen opted for the kitchen floor but ended up completely doing the kitchen top to bottom. I had the easy part vacuuming and spraying the floor and soft furnishings. I needed all doors and windows open but the smell soon went. Ellen did a good job she truly is a grand lass.
