A little light gardening and a lot of sun
- 11 May 2017 - 5 commentswith thunder forecast in the next couple of days I gave the ront garden a run over this morning so all grass is cut and strimmed. The temps rose as the morning went along so a lunch outside was on again. I was joined by the cats of course careering around like things demented. As the afternoon progressed the temps changed from warm to hot and for a long spell this afternoon hit 80f. That may not be hot to a lot of people but in this part of the world in May that is sub tropical. My skin wa…

A gentle stroll through the lanes up to the beach
- 10 May 2017 - 5 commentsAnother lovely day and feeling refreshed after my morning wamr up I headed down to the village and up Thorney Lane to the beach. There wasn't much in the way of action. just horses, cows and sheep grazing a sight that makes me feel very contented. As I cut up Thorney a little dog came up wagging the whole of his body instead of just his tale it seemed. He was very excitable but appeared to be alone,I couldn't see anyone around until a fella came down the path to stabes shouting him. He was soon…

Day 4 of the new reconditioned me
- 09 May 2017 - 4 commentsFeeling fit and healthy this morning after yesterday's exertions today I decide on a stay at home day. This morning I mowed and strimmmed the left side of the back garden, with no rain of late it hadn't grown much and only took just over an hour. The sun which had been playing peek-a boo until then finally burned the clouds off and with no breeze it was very pleasant out.. I decided to have lunch in the garden so took a recliner and a side table out, made some ham and salad buns and had a relaxin…

Of gorse,bluebells and other things
- 07 May 2017 - 4 commentsA glorious morning today so I had choices. Cut the grass,or go for a walk, that was a no brainer so I set of for the fields on the way to the beach. This is the time of year when the gorse is blooming and smelling of vanilla and we still have blossom on the trees and bushes. I crossed over the green and caught sight and smell of the gorse,Walking through the little path up towards the beach. The virds were maing plenty of noise but none settled long enough to get a snap. On bank above the beach…

I owe it all to the physio
- 05 May 2017 - 7 commentsAfter yesterday and the back problems this morning I started the treatment my new physio gave me a couple of months ago. Firstly I had 30 minutes on the massage chair (low setting). Then the big difference, Instead of the strenuous exercise of the old school the new idea is gentle maniplulation and stretching. !0 minutes of that and the difference was amazing. I have no pain at all and can move freely. I have rang the physio and thanked her. thanks to you all for asking . Wandering into the g…

how things change in a day
- 04 May 2017 - 6 commentsThis morning dawned bright and sunny and I had a couple of things to do. First job, cast my vote in the local elections then I was off on a stroll past the graveyard into the park and along the little wilderness. I love walking among the trees it's so peaceful. Leaving there I callled at the chemist to pick up my meds then carried on homewards only to be trapped by the bakery magnet so I had no choice but to buy a pie. My last call was to get some pot plants. I dragged an up turned carate out…

Hard but very rewarding work, The cats were a great help as usual. As soon as the machines stop they come out ready to spread the collected grass around again. Thanks felines. This is Sooty after his hard work totally exhausted. Today the sun shone and a good shopping trip and an early return home meant that after lunch I was ready for action. The battle resumes
- 18 Apr 2017 - 4 commentsAfter losing another couple of days lost to rain this morning I was out early to start on the lower right section of the garden again. After a couple of hours with a break I had the strimming done. After raking the grass another long break and a chew and a brew I got the first mow on it. to give you an idea of the size of the job here are the before and after photos. A slight delay in jungle clearance
- 13 Apr 2017 - 5 commentsYesterday the work in the garden ground to a halt because of a rainy morning. A little sun and a drying wind dried things up and I was able to start again this morning. I got the second mow on the rear top half and raked the grass up. It looks pretty ropey like a stubbly newly mowed hay field but the green is already showing through. I raked the grass into a pile and went to get my long pronged fork to move it. when I came back it was scattered around and the cats were having great fun tumblin…

slow progress
- 11 Apr 2017 - 4 commentsThe last few days have been hard slow progress but progress all the same. I have done 2 strims and one mower cut on the front and two strims on the top half of the large section of the rear. I still have more to strim and mow than I have already done but it is satisfying work and more importantly my back is holding out very well. If the weather holds tomorrow I should get the first mow on the top half of the rear or at least most of it

another false dawn?
- 08 Apr 2017 - 4 commentsIt's 12 days since I wrote about a break in the weather,it only lasted 2 days then slumped back into cold rainy days. The rain stopped a couple of days ago and today at long last the sun reappeared,I just hope this spell lasts as I have a major make over to do in the garden now. I reckon on a weeks hard graft to get things on the road to recovery.
