Keeping busy on a rainy morning and a lovely phone call
- 11 Aug 2017 - 5 commentsWith rain forecast for today last night I collected the last remaining junk pile I have, This lot has been laying around waiting to be sorted for years so today was the day. There were papers and letters dating back 11 years, obviously the last time I had a sort out. When I finished the pile was like this, the two red hard back folders are now empty and in the bookcase I had emptied a pedal bin liner full of confetti produced by feeding papers through the shredder.5 tom…

I'm fit again
- 10 Aug 2017 - 5 commentsAfter the clattering I took in the garden on Tuesday week I am now fully recovered and ready for action. My Knee and elbow only needed a little TCP and an Elastoplast, the shoulder had bruised up and a little stiff but no big deal. However my back started playing up later in the day,the twisting I did to stop the steel stantion smacking into my head had a reaction.I wasn't too clever until Friday last when I felt fully restored and ready for the Saturday shop. That went well as did the rest of t…

Ouch and double ouch
- 01 Aug 2017 - 6 commentsToday looked a little iffy with rain in the air early on but it quickly brightened up so time to buckle down to some work. I did some laundry and had it out on the whirly before nine and with a stiff breeze it was getting a good blow. The main job of the day was to be grass cutting. The front is ok and could wait a couple of days if needed, the back however needed attention if it wasn't to get away from me.With the planters on the right hand side I started on the left and had it cut and strimmed…

Time to stop being lazy
- 28 Jul 2017 - 5 commentsI have been going through a lazy spell of late but sorting cables out a couple of days ago kick started me into action. This was the spare room. The small box room upstairs used to be a tidy little storage area until Ellen came home. Since then it has been getting worse with Colin adding to the pile. Now they have a house with plenty of space they are going to move their stuff out. I thought I would give the a jolly along by getting all their stuff together and putting it into main spare roo…

A working morning
- 25 Jul 2017 - 4 commentsAfter an afternoon of sunshine lounging around in the garden yesterday today is dull and grey. I set to and sorted a job that has been bugging me for too long. Over time we collect all sorts of cables and conectors for the gadgets we have had and those we still have. I am normally a tidy person in stowing of things but this has been a blind spot for too long. A collected the various containers scattered here and there around the house and sorted everything out. I have connectors that don'…

84f today for a while then the storm hit
- 19 Jul 2017 - 4 commentsA wonderful day until around 4:15 then all hell broke loose. Firstly the birds came down had a good feed and vanished. 4:20 the rain started and boy what rain it was a few miutues later the thunder and lightning started. I wondered how the cats would react to their first storm but the noise didn't bother them. They are used to the fireworks on Nov5th and New Year so I guess that was it. The rain hammered down for and hour or so before calming down to a steady downpour and still the thunder…

Today dawned sunny and warm so I decided on a detour on the way to visit my mother. Photos here I am off to catch up with…

computer trouble fixed, I hope
- 09 Jul 2017 - 5 commentsI have been having trouble with my deskyop PC of late. I did have a man who built my first two computers and taught me the basics of fixing things but he has retired and left town. I reseatched the problem and with labour I was looking at around £200 money I can't spare. So I researched more and found a fix I thought I could manage. The instructions were complex to somebody like me with a limited knowledge of computer language but I set to and started. It was a long job with several restarts bu…

Just touching base
- 01 Jul 2017 - 2 commentsLittle to report here, the weather has been very iffy although after a cloudy start today is looking good with sunshine but a stiff breeze. My trip to town was uneventful with lots of bargains as usual and as usual on my return I had to pass through cats custom post as I was unpacking. I dumped the bags in the kitchen for their inspection as normal, when allowed I stowed th contents of the first bag and just left the bag on th floor.By the time I had emptied the second I had a squatter in the fi…

It is my day yo visit my mother and I got a lift both ways from a neighbour which was good. when I returned the weather was still threatening sso I decided to cut as much of the grass as I could before it came. I got the front mowed and strimmed in quick time with no interuptions, then had lunch. After lunch the weather had improved greatly and the sun seemed to be winnig the weather battle and it did win in the end. I managed to cu…

I needed some cow juice this morning and it being a lovely morning I detoured to the grass lands and beach on the way. Not a big trip only a couple of miles or so but I was in the sort of terrain I love, nothing messed about by man here except for the path running al…
