Just a Pear

Taken indoors on my tabletop.

Crab Apples

09 Sep 2024 25 30 138
I found these on a piece of waste land near to where I live. Locals come and pick the apples during the autumn. Eaten raw, crab apples are sour and astringent but there are many recipes available for making chutney, jam or jelly with them.

Bosham Harbour View

03 Dec 2024 19 24 144
Bosham Harbour again I'm afraid.........this time a view across to the rather nice houses on the opposite side of the harbour from my earlier shots. It was the two sailing boats and their reflections that caught my eye! Best viewed large if you have time.

A Ball of Colour (+PiP)

08 Dec 2024 21 29 140
The awful weather had me staying indoors and reaching for the macro lens today..............and trying to introduce a bit of colour into a dull day..!! If you don't know what the "ball" is made from..........check out the unravelled version in the PiP. I wish you all a good week ahead. Thanks for looking :-)

Bosham Harbour

03 Dec 2024 18 19 90
Another view across the harbour taken last Tuesday morning. Captured in 16:9 format, so I think it's best viewed large. Thanks for looking.

Storm clouds gathering!

06 Dec 2024 21 33 106
Taken this morning from the beach on Hayling Island. It was very windy and cold, so I had to retire to a café for coffee and cake :-))

Coffee and a good book.

05 Dec 2024 27 41 162
Not my usual stye of tabletop photograph, but I wanted to try something a little different. The "brick wall" is actually a piece of wall paper, which I bought as a leftover from a charity shop. The vase also came from a charity shop and the lighting was from an LED panel. I can recommend the book if you are interested in spiders :-))

Tranquility in Prinsted Bay, West Sussex

04 Dec 2024 27 45 157
Prinsted is a very small village on the shore of Chichester Harbour and I spent half-an-hour or so there this afternoon, taking photos. It was very calm and quiet with hazy sunshine. I don't normally shoot directly into the sun (as the photos normally turn out to be awful), but I'm quite pleased with the way this one turned out, with just a touch of post processing.

Bosham Harbour View (+PiP)

03 Dec 2024 30 42 185
A cold but sunny morning, with calm waters. The incoming tide was still far enough out for me to be able to get this perspective, looking back at the houses that line the harbour. The reflections were lovely, A wider view of the harbour in the PiP, if you have the time and inclination to look. These were taken in 16:9 format, so are better when viewed large.

Autumn Leaves (+Pip)

02 Dec 2024 22 30 104
These are from a small Acer tree in my garden. I took them indoors to photograph, as it was too wet and muddy outside. Better viewed large if you have time. The image in the PiP is essentially the same shot with an added texture :-)

The Chinese Bridge

22 Oct 2024 27 31 154
Taken during a walk in the Sir George Staunton Country Park near Havant, Hampshire. The bridge leads from the footpath to a small island in the lake. Built in 1833, the brickwork is original, with the woodwork having been refurbished in the original style over the years. Best viewed large. Thanks for looking..........I hope you all have an enjoyable week.

The Busker

01 Nov 2024 19 21 94
This was taken in The Strand in the centre of Exmouth, Devon. My wife had disappeared into one of the shops and I took the opportunity to sit in the sunshine and listen to this chap playing. He was very good and gathered quite an audience.

Leycesteria Formosa

22 Nov 2024 25 32 115
Also known as Himalayan Honeysuckle. Spotted and photographed in the Bishop's Palace Gardens, in Chichester, West Sussex. These are well past their use-by date, having dropped their seeds earlier. The remaining bits of the flowers will soon dry out and drop off.

Driftwood

24 Sep 2024 23 34 136
Spotted on a Hayling Island beach...........it's obviously been there a while and someone has carved a name on it (see if you can find it). I liked the sinuous shapes of the tree trunk and the textures in the wood. Best viewed large........especially if you want to find out the name ;-)

Paper Flowers

27 Nov 2024 22 28 100
It was pouring down with rain this morning so we had to stay indoors and I suddenly remembered I had bought a glue gun and hadn't used it yet. So, a glue gun, some mini cupcake cases and some plastic straws..........and the gloomy morning is banished.........for a while at least :-))

Lime Tree Seed Pods

25 Nov 2024 23 32 95
Yesterday, I found this this lying on the paving stones in my back garden........it had blown in from the council-owned Lime Trees that are on the other side of the garden fence. As it was just starting to rain I quickly pegged it on the clothes-line to get this quick shot. Better viewed large if you have time. Thanks for looking.

Garden Spider with Lunch

15 Oct 2024 23 32 126
Taken in my garden. I think it's lunch is a wasp! Better viewed large if you can stand it!

Trellis

22 Nov 2024 22 32 101
I spotted this piece of black-painted wooden trellis against a very old brick wall in the Bishop's Palace Gardens in Chichester, West Sussex. I liked the green foliage, especially the one climbing up the trellis, and the lovely light and shadows.
