Gothic choir in ruins - HBM

The decline of the abbey was due to crises: wars, revolution, food shortages. The cloister and the bell tower have disappeared, and the 20th century was devoted to safeguarding what remains. More information under this picture.

Thanks David, since almost 1000 years it has actually an eventful history. A bad moment was during the French Revolution, for example the walls of this choir serving as a stone career for the construction of buildings. Have a nice week.

Eine tolle Perspektive Christa, die die gewaltige Größe dieser Ruine sehr gut zur Geltung bringt! Leider hat man in früheren Zeiten die alten Bauten als willkommene Steinbrüche benutzt.

Danke Karsten, genauso war es hier auch : während der franz. Revolution wurden hier die Steine geklaut, um damit viele Häuser in Laval (Hauptstadt des Départements) zu bauen. Ich wünsche dir eine sonnige Woche bis Ostern.
