The façade of the Cour-de-Grazay castle features a hexagonal tower dating from 1577 and a covered wooden gallery between the tower and the entrance pavilion. RESIDENCE SECONDAIRE SEULEMENT! Das Schloss Cour-de-Grazay hat an der Fassade einen sechseckigen Turm aus dem Jahr 1577 und eine überdachte Holzgalerie zwischen dem Turm und dem Eingangspavillon.

There is a steep path leading up to the top of Normandy's ‘Rocky Mountains’ ( see my previous photo ). And what's more, the descent is tricky! But the view from up there is well worth it, and there's this bench to boot... LE BANC QU'IL FAUT CONQUÉRIR. Il y a un un chemin escarpé qui permet de monter sur le haut des "Rocky Mountains" normands ( voir ma photo précédente ). D'ailleurs, la descente est scabreux ! Mais la vue depuis là-haut vaut le coup d'oeil, et en plus, il y a ce banc... DIE BANK, DIE MAN SICH EROBERN MUSS. Es gibt einen steilen Weg, der auf die Spitze der normannischen "Rocky Mountains" führt ( siehe mein vorheriges Foto ). Und der Abstieg ist übrigens auch nicht ohne ! Aber die Aussicht von dort oben ist es wert, und ausserdem gibt es dort diese Bank...

Mais ceux-ci se trouvent en Normandie ! Nous retournons régulièrement à cet endroit (appelé la "Fosse Arthour") qui a beaucoup de charme en toutes saisons. Le Château de Coulonges date du XVème siècle, et la seigneurie de Coullonges est connue depuis 1463. Ce fut un château impressionnant, mais aujourd'hui il est abandonné et tombe en ruines... PAST SPLENDOR... Coulonges castle dates back to the 15th century, and the seigneury of Coulonges has been known since 1463. It was once an impressive castle, but today it is abandoned and falling into ruin... VERGANGENE PRACHT... Das Schloss von Coulonges stammt aus dem 15. Jh., und die Herren von Coulonges sind seit 1463 bekannt. Es war ein beeindruckendes Schloss, doch heute ist es verlassen und verfällt...

The little leprechaun is currently looking for a place in the garden where he can set up his bench in spring ;-) LE BANC DU LUTIN. Der kleine Kobold sucht gerade einen Platz im Garten, wo er seine Bank im Frühling aufstellen kann ;-)

This dovecote (1539) is remarkably well preserved. It is hexagonal in plan, built of wood, plastered with flat bricks and supported by six granite columns. Its origins remain a mystery, as it is a typical Gascon structure, unknown in the Loire region at the time. It stands on an islet in the middle of the pond and is part of the Château du Fresne (16th century), surrounded by a moat. The collage shows well the position of the dovecote in relation to the château. PIGEONNIER SUR SON ÎLE. Ce pigeonnier (1539) est remarquablement bien conservé. Il est de plan hexagonal, construit en bois, enduit de briques plates et sur six colonnes de granit. Son origine reste un mystère car c’est un ouvrage typique du pays gascon, inconnu en Pays de la Loire à cette époque. Il se trouvé sur un îlot au milieu de l'étang et fait partie du château du Fresne (XVIe siècle), entouré de douves. Sur le collage on voit bien la position du pigeonnier par rapport au château. TAUBENSCHLAG AUF SEINER INSEL. Dieser Taubenschlag (1539) ist bemerkenswert gut erhalten. Er hat einen sechseckigen Grundriss, ist aus Holz gebaut, mit flachen Ziegeln verputzt und steht auf sechs Granitsäulen. Sein Ursprung bleibt ein Rätsel, da es sich um ein typisches Bauwerk der Gascogne handelt, das zu dieser Zeit in der Region Pays de la Loire unbekannt war. Er befindet sich auf einer kleinen Insel in der Mitte des Weihers und gehört zum Schloss Le Fresne (16. Jh.), das von einem Wassergraben umgeben ist. Auf der Collage ist die Lage des Taubenschlags im Verhältnis zum Schloss gut zu erkennen.

If you push aside the flower pots, there's enough room to sit under the well-sheltered statue, built on the embankment beside the road. LE BANC DE LA VIERGE. Si on pousse de côté les pots de fleurs, il y a assez de place pour s'asseoir, sous la statue bien abritée, construite sur le talus à côté de la route. DIE BANK DER JUNGFRAU. Wenn man die Blumentöpfe beiseite schiebt, gibt es genug Platz zum Sitzen, unter der gut geschützten Statue, die auf der Böschung neben der Strasse errichtet wurde.

This is the start of the towpath along the Mayenne, from the town of Mayenne to Laval (approx. 35 km). LES VIEUX REMPARTS DU CHÂTEAU DEPUIS LA RIVE OPPOSEÉ. C'est le début du chemin de halage le long de la Mayenne, depuis la ville de Mayenne jusqu'à Laval (env. 35 km). DIE ALTEN FESTUNGSMAUERN DER BURG VOM GEGENÜBERLIEGENDEN UFER AUS. Hier beginnt der Treidelpfad entlang der Mayenne von der Stadt Mayenne bis nach Laval (ca. 35 km).

La Mayenne coule paisblement vers sa destination : peu avant Angers, avec la Sarthe elle forme la Maine qui se jette dans la Loire 11 km plus loin. Faire une balade sur le chemin de halage par beau temps est un grand plaisir. THE SONG OF WATER. The Mayenne flows peacefully towards its destination: just before Angers, it forms, with the Sarthe, the Maine, which flows into the Loire 11 km further on. Strolling along the towpath in fine weather is a great pleasure. DER GESANG DES WASSERS. Die Mayenne fliesst friedlich ihrem Ziel entgegen: kurz vor Angers bildet sie zusammen mit der Sarthe die Maine, die 11 km weiter in die Loire mündet. Bei schönem Wetter einen Spaziergang auf dem Treidelpfad zu machen, ist ein grosses Vergnügen.

Seen in Chailland (with the label ‘Small Town with Character’), on the banks of the river Ernée. LE BANC SUR LE MUR. Vu à Chailland ("Petite Cité de Caractère"), sur les bords de la rivière Ernée. DIE BANK AUF DER MAUER. Gesehen in Chailland (Label "Kleine Stadt mit Charakter"), am Ufer des Flusses Ernée.

J'ai pris cette photo initialement dans le format "portrait" (1500x1125 px, voir PiP). J'ai alors eu l'idée de le changer en "format paysage" (1125x1500 px). Le résultat est assez intéressant. SUNNY WINTER DAY AT THE POND. I originally took this photo in ‘portrait’ format (1500x1125 px, see PiP). Then I had the idea to change it to ‘landscape format’ (1125x1500 px). The result is quite interesting. SONNIGER WINTERTAG AM WEIHER. Ich habe dieses Foto ursprünglich im "Hochformat" (1500x1125 px, sehe PiP) aufgenommen. Dann hatte ich die Idee, es in das "Querformat" (1125x1500 px) zu ändern. Das Ergebnis ist recht interessant.

Every year this tree blooms and perfumes the whole street, it's a real splendour. LE TEMPS DES MIMOSA EST DE RETOUR. Tous les ans cet arbre fleurit et embaume toute la rue, c'est une véritable splendeur. DIE MIMOSENZEIT IST WIEDER DA. Jedes Jahr blüht dieser Baum und "betäubt" die ganze Strasse mit seinem Duft, eine wahre Pracht.

The site of the Bondy lake is nestled in fir-clad hills, and is surprisingly reminiscent of a mountain landscape. Picnic tables and fishermen's shelters are arranged around the pond. PENDANT LA BALADE DU DIMANCHE. Le site de l'étang de Bondy est niché au creux de collines vêtues de sapinières. C'est vraiment surprenant, il évoque tout à fait les paysages de montagne. Des tables de pique-nique et abris pour les pêcheurs sont disposés autour de l'étang. WÄHREND DES SONNTAGSPAZIERGANGS. Der kleine See von Bondy liegt eingebettet in tannenbewachsene Hügel und erinnert tatsächlich an eine Berglandschaft. Rund um den Weiher sind Picknicktische und Anglerhütten aufgestellt.

Lors d'une balade nous avons découvert cette maison semblant sortir tout droit du film "La famille Addams" ;-) En fait, ce sont les dépendances de l'ancien château construit en 1620 et détruit par un incendie en 1916. Il ne sera pas reconstruit, ses ruines seront rasées en 1971 et ces bâtiments d'exploitation se dégradent aujourd'hui silencieusement... HAUNTED HOUSE?? During a walk we came across this house, which looks like something out of the film "The Addams Family";-) In fact, it's the outbuildings of the old castle built in 1620 and destroyed by fire in 1916. It was never rebuilt, its ruins were razed to the ground in 1971 and these farm buildings are quietly rotting away today... SPUKHAUS ?? Bei einem Ausflug haben wir dieses Haus entdeckt, das direkt aus dem Film "Die Addams Family" zu stammen scheint ;-) Tatsächlich sind es die Nebengebäude des alten Schlosses, das 1620 erbaut und 1916 durch einen Brand zerstört wurde. Es wurde nicht wieder aufgebaut, die Ruinen wurden 1971 abgerissen, und diese Wirtschaftsgebäude gammeln heute leise vor sich hin...
