...le "Pech de Bugarach" atteigne 1230 m d'altitude. C'est un lieu mythique, inspiré de nombreuses légendes, et le paradis pour les amateurs de randonnée. Le "toit des Corbières" offre un panorama remarquable sur la chaîne des Pyrénées et ses sommets enneigés ainsi que sur la Méditerranée par temps clair. "Faire le Bugarach", c'est faire une ascension légendaire pour randonneurs chevronnés sur le Sentier Cathare.

HIGHEST POINT OF THE CORBIERES, the "Pech de Bugarach" reaches an altitude of 1230 m. It is a mythical place, inspired by many legends, and a paradise for hiking enthusiasts. The "roof of the Corbières" offers a remarkable panorama of the Pyrenees chain and its snow-capped peaks as well as the Mediterranean on a clear day. "Doing the Bugarach" is a legendary ascent for experienced hikers on the Cathar Trail.

I would travel there if I could but a car is needed and a) I don't have one and b) thanks to Brexit I no longer have a European driving licence and my health post Covid (including worsening eyesigjht) means I won't pass the driving test in either country. GRRR!

Actually there is only a bus sercvie into Madrid a few times a day. No train, no metro and I have to rely on my sister for giving me a lift. Not ideal!

The same here, a bus service a few times a day to the next bigger town. The problem is that we live 5 km from the next bus stop - so a car is absolutely necessary, because without you are really stuck!!

At the speed I walk, the nearest bus stop is 40 minutes walk away and it's all uphill on the return journey so more or less an hour for me (or a call for a lift!).

Danke Güni, es ist der höchste Berg der Corbières, man sieht ihn schon von weitem. Aber das "gigantischste" war der Tag, an dem wir dort hoch gekletter sind. Es gibt 2 Möglichkeiten : die eine ist für erfahrene Bergsteiger, die andere für rüstige Wanderer - letztere haben wir gemacht.
