I found some old pictures where it was painted white, so maybe it didn't take too many years to look this way, unless of course they made a sensible decision to get rid of the white paint and show off its rusty beauty instead!!

It's a lovely place in my opinion. When we said we were going to visit Girvan, the local in Ayr said, 'Why?'

Thank you very much Amelia and for sending the link to you picture. It is lovely to see pictures of places you have visited. I didn't get a great picture of Ailsa Craig beyond the wall. It was not very clearat all so didn't think it worth posting, but you did an excellent job on yours.

You see I like Girvan. We have been there a few times. It is an interesting place to visit and there is always something to look at.
We were fascinated to watch a large boat being moved after having work done on it in the boatyard. It was quite a process and we lost track of time for a while!!

Thank you very much Isabel. The navigation light might not be as impressive as a 'proper' lighthouse but I loved the rusty, weathered door. Yes I hope she does but I know she likes the door!! I found an old image of it when it was painted white - I am glad they came to their senses as I like the rust a lot more!!
