Glacier heart -Hrútárjökull and Fjallsárlón

Hrútárjökull is an outlet glacier of Öræfajökull which is at the SW edge of Vatnajökull. Öræfajökull denotes both the glacier and the stratovolcano that lies underneath it. Iceland's highest mountain (Hvannadalshnjúkur, 2110m) is situated on the crater rim of Öræfajökull.
Fjallsárlón is a glacial lagoon just west of better known Jökulsárlón. It is fed by yet another outlet glacier of Öræfajökull/ Vatnajökull, Fjallsjökull.

Herzlichen Dank, Udo! Bald wird das kein Herzchen mehr sein, die kleine Gletscherzunge rechts ist schon deutlich zurückgegangen, seit ich 2014 das erste Mal dort war:-(

Schönen Dank, Uwe! Ja, das geht alles erschreckend zurück, aber der Vatnajökull mit seinen über 8000 km² wird immerhin der letzte sein, der komplett abschmilzt.

Both images are really beautiful Gudrun............I love the stark contrast of the ice and rocks and the subtle blue tones in the glacier. The blue tones show up even better in the lagoon in the foreground.
