Doorknockers at Casa Inguanez


Casa Inguanez is the palace of Malta's oldest noble family in the old Maltese capital of Mdina. The palazzo was built in the 11th century and first mentionend in 1423, Roman Melite artifacts have been unearthed in the gardens. Inguanez were the governors of Mdina for many years until the old noble families lost their influence under the Knights of St. John. To this day the Spanish Royal family have the right to live in Casa Inguanez. (See notes for larger size)
Casa Inguanez ist der Palast der ältesten Adelsfamilie Maltas in der alten Hauptstadt Mdina. Der Palazzo wurde im 11. Jh erbaut und 1423 erstmals urkundlich erwähnt, im Garten wurden Artefakte aus römischer Zeit ausgegraben. Viele Jahre lang waren Inguanez Gouverneure von Mdina, bis die alten Adelsfamilien ihren EInfluss an die Johanniter verloren. Noch heute hat das spanische Königshaus ein Wohnrecht in der Casa Inguanez. (größere Ansicht in den PiPs)
