In the vineyards (view full size!)

In one of Stuttgart's small vineyards at Schimmelhüttenweg. Thankfully the vines survived the severe April frosts, but the fruit trees all suffered- no cherries or apples this year.

Am Schimmelhüttenweg, wo sich mit dem Degerlocher Scharrenberg eine der kleinsten Weinlagen befindet. Zum Glück hat der Wein den Aprilfrost überlebt, die Obstbäume hat es dagegen hart getroffen, fast totaler Ernteausfall.

Maybe some time in the future we could have a zoom option on Ipernity, it would make viewing panos more enjoyable! The grapes were behind a fence but we can probably soon buy some in the local markets:-)

Oje, da kam es dieses Mal echt drauf an, in welchem Entwicklubgsstadium der Frost zugeschlagen hat. Hier sind die Trauben prall, aber in anderen Lagen sieht's auch nicht gut aus.

On that day we forget that the clocks went forward and missed breakfast in the hotel, so had to go to one of the little restaurants in Rudesheim as soon as we got off the bus! They had a lovely warm log fire in there too....so we stayed a while ;-)) I will put a picture on soon of the wine tasting in the cave!

Schön gemacht!
Was bei uns der Frost ganz gelassen hat, hat dann im Sommer noch der Hagel kaputt geschlagen. Allerdings hatten die Kirschen vor dem Frost geblüht und waren vor dem Hagel reif. Immerhin etwas.

Besten Dank, Werner! Ja, es kommt immer drauf an, wann der Frost oder Hagel zuschlägt... Mit Hagel waren wir hier bisher weitgehend verschont, im Ernstfall werden auch Hagelflieger eingesetzt.

A mouth watering view. I worry about people who visit vineyards ....as a result of visiting such places myself in NZ around Auckland, to freely sample the products. North Shore has too many vineyards ;-)

Thank you, Graham! I shot portrait format with plenty of overlap... Yes, it's a public path linking the valley with a part of town on the hill. We have a lot of steep roads and stairways in town plus a funicular and a rack railway, both part of the public transport system.
