Ernest Gets Ready to Sprint, May 27, 1910

Uploaded for the Vintage Photos Theme Park theme of: SPORTING EVENTS OR COMPETITIONS
It took me forever to find this Real Photo Postcard of my husband's maternal grandfather, Ernest Illingworth, who is ready to run on the far left.
A frustrating search, but looks like I'm not the only one having trouble with this week's topic!
I like the lad perching on the pole to the far left. That can't have been too comfortable!
I wonder who the winner was in this long ago race?

Great photo! I like how the guy next to your husband's grandfather seems to be looking up at the photographer instead of bending down to take a proper stance to get ready to sprint.
Looking more closely at this, I think that it might be a posed photo and the men are not actually ready to run. (Although the actual race my be seconds away.) Half of the runners are looking at the photographer, and the officials in the back look particularly posed - but we'll never know.
