Ronnie King and "Patsy"the Dog

15 Jan 2014 2 2 310
Added for the Vintage Photos Theme Park theme of "hand colored photos." This is approximately 5" by 8*' and is on fairly thick cardboard. This is Ronnie King, my husband's father c1927. I'm a little less sure about "Patsy" the dog. This was labeled by his mom, Agnes, in her 90s, when she was getting a little "vague." Her daughter was named "Patricai" or "Patsy " - but perhaps they had a dog, too, before "Patsy the girl" was born.

The High Dive Champ

Posted for the Vintage Photos Theme Park theme of "THE ONE THAT ALMOST GOT AWAY (you know how it is, you find the perfect photo just a little too late for the theme, so post it now and say which theme it would’ve fitted) YES!!! I am SOOO happy to have found this photo, finally - and whoever came up with this theme - brilliant. This was the perfect photo for the "awards, etc." theme - and I knew it was somewhere in the house, but WTH??? It's a large 8 by 10 and I couldn't imagine where I'd put it. So annoying! Finally found it, though, (yesterday) sandwiched between two other large photographs at the bottom of a drawer.! And I love knowing how all of you fellow collectors can identify with the joy of finding the missing item! This is a photograph of my husband's grandfather, Ernest Illingworth, taken by the Springfield Recorder. (Vermont.), the local newspaper. Every year, on Ernest's birthday, he would go down to the town pool and dive in from the high diving board. This was his 80th birthday, and the local paper recorded his being presented with an award/certificate. (For bravery or craziness??) He was born August 18, 1884. in Yorkshire, England, and here he is, celebrating his 80th birthday on August 18, 1964 in Springfield, Vermont. Now I can sleep easy. : )

Ernest Gets Ready to Sprint, May 27, 1910

Uploaded for the Vintage Photos Theme Park theme of: SPORTING EVENTS OR COMPETITIONS It took me forever to find this Real Photo Postcard of my husband's maternal grandfather, Ernest Illingworth, who is ready to run on the far left. A frustrating search, but looks like I'm not the only one having trouble with this week's topic! I like the lad perching on the pole to the far left. That can't have been too comfortable! I wonder who the winner was in this long ago race?

Joanne and her Friend

12 Mar 2016 3 330
With a small slice of the Wall Street wall in the background, so it can go into "The Wall" album. Joanne (on the left) is my husband's mom - her friend is probably Helen Beardsley. I sent this to my second oldest son recently, to show him how much he looks like his grandmother, but both he and his wife were astonished at how much Joanne looks like Arya Stark from The Game of Thrones.

My mother in law, Joanne Illingworth, probably late 1930s, Springfield, Vermont. Uploaded for the Vintage Photos Theme Park theme of "Caught unawares" or "caught unaware" less colloquially. : )
