Oh, those sweet little girls! I would have bought this in a heartbeat too. <3 I guess that's a baby in the carriage, but I could otherwise imagine dolls there.

hmmmm, interesting, Ellie. If you look at this at full size, I think you can see a baby arm thrown over to the side, and the little girl on the right has such a "peeking at the baby" stance - but you're right, it does look rather small and doll pram - ish, looking at it afresh.

A lovely little scene with so many details! I like the design of the dress that the girl on the left is wearing. The knitting woman reminds me that there's an interesting book of found photos--People Knitting: A Century of Photographs, complied by Barbara Levine--that's worth tracking down at the library or on Amazon. Check out a preview of the contents of the book in "Strangely Captivating Vintage Photos of People Knitting," an article on Atlas Obscura. (I just discovered that the same author has two more books, People Fishing and People Kissing, that I'll have to locate.)
