I wonder if this was named after Laura Ingalls Wilder. Such a pretty image on a rainy day.

Hi Ellie - I'd never heard of any connection with Laura Ingalls Wilder, but didn't know for sure, And in fact there is no connection - but the library website tells us:
The Library building was once the home of Judge John Wilder who lived there in 1827. He kept the post office in the building and was Postmaster from 1830 until 1851. John Wilder was also State Representative in 1828, a Selectman of Weston (1834-37) and a State Senator (1858-59).
After his death the family deeded it to the town for $1.
Interesting to know this - thanks!
(Although, was there really a functional post in Vermont in 1830?)
